Magnetek was formed in 1984 through the acquisition of Litton Industries' Magnetics Group. During the 1980s, the Company acquired a number of other electrical equipment companies, and in 1991 joined forces with Plessey S.p.A., Europe 's largest independent manufacturer of electronic power supplies for computers. During the 1990s, Magnetek divested its electrical equipment operations in order to focus exclusively on digital power-electronics.
